Job Description:/h3:
Core Content Subject Matter Expert (Science, Social Studies, and Math)
Location: District Office, Chandler, AZ 85286
Reports to: Director of Academics
:Oversee the creation and maintenance of all Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics pacing guides and grade weights (K:8).
:Ensure that the pacing guides are aligned to the AZ Articulated Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics AzCCRS.
:Facilitate the implementation of the AZ Articulated Science and Social Studies Standards and the AzCCRS in Mathematics.
:Co:coordinate and co:facilitate (in conjunction with the ELA Subject Matter Expert) District Lead Teachers Meetings (K:8) that take place twice per year.
:Create and facilitate trainings in:
:Discipline:specific best practices within Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics curriculum topics and objectives.
:STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and its appropriate implementation into our current curriculum.
:AZ Articulated Science and Social Studies standards and AzCCRS in Mathematics.
:Keep abreast of current and new curricula that have the potential to improve science, social studies or math teaching and learning within the district.
:Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and curriculum and make recommendations for improvements.
:Collaborate with other subject matter experts to provide an integrated program district:wide.
:Continually monitor and evaluate the Science, Social Studies and Mathematics programs at each school through consistent, meaningful communication with the schools Administrative
Teams/Instructional Coaches.
:Investigate and respond to Science, Social Studies and Mathematics curricular issues, communicating solutions to affected stakeholders.
:Coordinate school and district level academic competitions and events that are germane to the area of Science and Social Studies, including the Science Fair and the Geography Bee.
:Works with outside vendor to assist in planning all aspects of the JH end of year trip. Oversees and coordinates this event at each site.
:Attend appropriate trainings/meetings with the Arizona Department of Education (ADE), and curriculum representatives, gaining knowledge of
changes/modifications to programs and support the Administrative
Teams/Instructional Coaches by sharing all pertinent information with them.
:Collaborate with the Deputy Superintendents and the Director of Academics to provide appropriate instructional program support for the Instructional Coaches at the monthly Leadership Meetings.
:Update and maintain the folders related to Science, Social Studies and Mathematics on the M Drive.
:Develop and support STEM based lab activities that align to each K:8 science pacing guide.
:Conduct school site validations to ensure that all instruction (in the areas of Science, Social Studies/Standards of Citizenship, and Mathematics) align to the curriculum pacing guides and the LTS mission and vision.
Skills and Qualifications:

:Maintain current Level one IVP DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card as required by law
:Masters degree in Education
:Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
:Experience with alignment of curriculum to state standards
:Strong computer skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office
:Demonstrated program development and implementation skills
:Plans the work of others and coordinates work with other departments or external providers and agencies
:Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, and regulations
:Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from team members, supervisors, managers, and directors. Must have excellent verbal communication skills
:Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
:Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations.
:Strong attention to detail and well organized
