Desert Choice Schools (a Learn It Family of Companies division (is a certified K :12 Private Day School approved by the Arizona Department of Education to provide Special Education Services for the following disability categories: Autism (A), Emotional Disability (ED), Mild Intellectual Disability (MIID), Moderate Intellectual Disability (MOID), Other Health Impaired (OHI), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), and Speech:Language Impairment (SLI). Desert Choice Schools utilizes a highly:structured, school:wide Positive Behavioral Supports program that teaches students Academic, Social/Emotional Problem:Solving and Strategies. All DCS teachers and support staff are trained in a unique methodology that assists students with maintaining Positive Choice:Making. We are a tight:knit team that values colleagues who exhibit collaboration, integrity and the desire to make a difference in the lives of students who struggle to be successful, and who share a passion to help children and their families.Substitute Teachers will be a part of a team that works with students with emotional and behavioral needs providing therapeutic interventions, de:escalation, pre:crisis and post crisis interventions as well as instruction in the event our regularly scheduled educator is unable to attend work. This position is supported by one to three behavior technicians who assist the classroom teacher with classroom management, behavior documentation and reporting, implementing social/emotional/behavioral interventions as well as participating in teaching and instruction. Teachers are responsible for curriculum and instruction, classroom management, as well as other documentation and maintaining student records if needed.Follows a school scheduleWork variable days/hoursCollaborate and able to receive to feedback, mentoring and direction from peers and supervisorsMaintain a professional and clinical perspective at all times, able to not internalize or personalize (e.g. emotionally) in regards certain student behaviors or mannerisms that occurMust have the ability to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds) of all involved (e.g. self, student, other employeesBachelors Degree requiredActive and valid Substitute or other Education teaching certificate issued by AZ State Department of EducationExperience working with emotional and/or behaviorally challenged students preferredPCMA certified is a plus but not required.Desert Choice Schools/Learn It Systems is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
