Is traditional massage not your thing? Or wanting to try something new, that transcends your typical spa session? There are many modalities you may not have tried that are focused on restoring the flow of energy in your body, which can be very healing and always very relaxing. I am certified and experienced in many Western and Eastern therapies and love to share this healing experience with those with open hearts and minds. You can receive a bodywork session that is focused on balancing the body's energy like Shiatsu or Thai Massage, or an Energy Healing Session in which hands are placed gently on healing points along the body or work in the energy field of the body.
Shiatsu is an ancient form of bodywork rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) where you feel deeply connected to your therapist as she unblocks and balances your body's vital energy using intuitive pressure, stretching, and mobilization techniques. This massage is perfect for treating back pain, sports injuries, and stress related issues. Performed on a mat, the client wears comfortable clothes (ie yoga attire). I can also teach you do-in shiatsu in which you learn how to perform many shiatsu techniques on yourself between sessions for stress relief and self care.
Traditional Thai Yoga is another massage in which the client is clothed for deeper stretches and non invasive healing touch. Performed on a mat, and I also offer Table Thai Yoga for those more comfortable on a table, with or without clothing(draping then required). Also a very relaxing ancient modality that gives the client a feeling of spaciousness in the body and mind with focus on stretching, while rhythmic rocking allows you to be more aware in the moment and leave pain and stress behind. This massage is perfect for athletes, those with low back/hip pain, or those with limited mobility (and of course yogis!). I infuse injury massage into my mat bodywork sessions as I feel necessary to help with areas of pain/limited mobility.
Acupressure is a modality also developed from TCM that focuses on a custom treatment plan with specific acupoints on the body. The client is clothed in the session. Similar to what you'd get out of acupuncture sessions but with non invasive light finger pressure, this technique treats anything from physical pain, headaches, stress/anxiety disorders, digestive problems and many more. Also very relaxing, clients often fall into a peaceful restorative sleep.
Reiki is bodywork that uses light touch or work in the energy body to bring healing. This is a very powerful healing art developed by Mikao Usui, a Japanese samurai and Buddhist monk. I'm a 6th generation Level 2 certified Reiki practitioner. Each session is custom designed for your needs, but if you don't feel comfortable sharing what you are seeking help with be it emotional or physical that's fine as Reiki adapts to the needs of the receiver of this life energy. I also scan the body before beginning to feel where blockages exist. This is an effective therapy to reduce pain, release trauma, and is also very helpful in preventing future issues.
Chakra Balancing is another form of energy healing with deep connections to Hinduism, that includes work in the ethereal space above the body to restore balance to the body. This modality helps you feel your best by harmonizing your seven chakras. When all chakras are at optimal vibration, healing occurs and you feel re-energized. I also incorporate the use of a Tibetan Singing Bowl to amp up the vibration at each point on the body.
Qi Gong is another powerful energy healing technique that has been used for centuries that includes work in the energy field of the body to clear any blockages, the source of any dysfunction in the body. Like Reiki, this is an effective therapy for physical or emotional pain, digestive problems, or an addition to holistic treatment for cancer and other diseases. Qi gong focuses on breath work as well, where breathing alone brings a state of mental and physical calmness. This is where your body begins to heal itself, and I teach you simple Qi gong exercises to continue to remove energy blockages after the session as well as provide sources of information on the study of this ancient practice.
Cranial Sacral Therapy is an energy driven healing technique that helps the spine and thus the body recover from trauma such as whiplash and treats conditions such as TMJD and tinnitus(ringing in the ears). With the client lying clothed on the table, the therapist gently holds specific points on the back and front of the body to rebalance the flow of cranial sacral fluid, following with gentle holds on the cranium and a nice relaxing scalp massage.
Reflexology has many origins dating back as far as 2,500 B.C. including Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Russian, and Egyptian. Over time, American physicians mapped out zones in the feet and hands in relation to the organs and different areas of the body. Working these areas directly benefits the health of these different areas of the body, and is also extremely relaxing. Also great for treating conditions such as plantar fasciitis. This can be incorporated into any other bodywork or you can just get your feet/hands worked on in a reflexology session.
