Target 12-week Internship Dates: 5/14/18 - 8/02/18
(4-10 work schedule M-Th 6am - 4:30pm)
Work Collaboratively with CAP Maintenance Planning, Maintenance Scheduling, Engineering, and Water Operations staff on CAP routine and non-routine maintenance activities; gain experience and knowledge in estimating, work planning, scheduling, and work execution tracking and monitoring.
Position Responsibilities
1. Participate with Maintenance Planners and Schedulers in the creation and monitoring of work packages, job plans, and work schedules for routine and non-routine maintenance, repair, and/or overhaul activities. Major focus will be on:
a. Ensuring that sufficient Engineering Scope of Work, Drawings, Specifications,
and material product information requirements are provided as required to plan
and schedule work
b. Identifying and estimating material requirements and quantities as required to provide
a sufficient Bill of Materials for Work Packages.
c. Identifying and estimating manpower and equipment requirements for efficient
work execution.
d. Assist Maintenance Planners in procuring the necessary approvals and permits
from our Safety
e. Assist in the development and refinement of the Summer Outage Master Schedule
with the Senior Maintenance Scheduler.
f. Assist in the tracking and monitoring of the Summer Outage Master Schedule.
2. Participate in site review of work locations, field data collection, and interface with
field maintenance and construction personnel.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
+ Junior or higher level student (or recent grad) in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Project Management Major.
+ Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
+ Candidates must have completed their program's Estimating and Scheduling courses.
+ Must have a base level functional understanding of CPM Scheduling Methodology and Scheduling Software (MS Project/Primavera/Etc.).
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
+ Strong writing and oral communication skills.
+ Must submit a one-page essay and transcripts (unofficial or official) with the online application.
+ Must be legally authorized to work a paid internship in the United States.
