Are you in need of a good auto tech to repair or maintenance your automobile? I am a graduate of the Arizona Automotive Institute where I received an Associates Degree in Automotive Science and I have been ASE Certified since 2001. I have been working on cars for 15+ years and I am certified in many areas of the Automotive Field. I believe everyone needs to know the difference between using a un-trained mechanic"Shade Tree Mechanic" and using a certified trained auto tech. To sum it up I tell people this true personal story. I got a call from a lady who lived up in North Scottsdale who claimed that she had a no start condition on her 94 Jeep Wrangler. She had called a mechanic who had an ad here on CL and he came out and told her that the Jeep had a bad Fuel pump so she paid this guy $450.00 to replace it. Upon replacing the fuel pump the Jeep still failed to start so the mechanic told her it was the ECM (computer) that had gone bad and instructed her to remove the ECM and take to down to a local auto parts store where they could test it and sell her a new one if it indeed was bad. The lady became a little concerned about the situation she had encountered with this mechanic and that is when she found my ad on CL. She called me and I came out and the first thing I did was check the old fuel pump and it turned out was still good. I began a series of diagnostic tests and determined that the Jeep had a bad crank shaft position sensor which was a $50.00 part. I replaced the sensor and it fired right up and ran well. This client almost believed this other non trained mechanic and almost removed the ECM without proper training which could have resulted in a damaged one that could have cost her over $1200.00. You need to have proper training before attempting something this serious. It is not a job for a do-it-yourselfer. So please before you use anyone posting anywhere ask if they are trained tech from a school that specializes in the automotive field. It could save you a lot of money in the long run. I am very reasonable with my prices for all repairs. I do everything from AC's, water pumps, IAC Valve, check engine light on (MIL), shocks, struts, brakes, ignition and drivability problems, fuel pumps, transmission issues, timing belts and everything in between. I cannot do alignments because I do not have the special equipment that it takes to do them right.
